SickleCellPedia answers real questions about sickle cell disease — free, in multiple languages, on the web and on WhatsApp. What follows are early numbers: the assistant launched in 2025, and SCKIN only began measuring it rigorously in 2026, so treat this as a first honest snapshot, not a finished scoreboard.

No usage data exists for 2024: SickleCellPedia and this website did not exist yet.
2025
423 monthly active-user instances and 1,220 interactions across the year, from Analytics totals — the web agent launched in June 2025 and no transcripts survive today to verify individual conversations, so there is no "substantive conversations" figure for this year. August 2025 (204 users) is excluded throughout as internal testing. October alone brought 146 users and 409 interactions — clinicians and delegates trying SickleCellPedia at ASCAT London, a real but conference-driven spike, not an organic baseline.
January – June 2026
374 monthly active-user instances and 835 interactions across the full six months (Analytics); of these, 142 were verified as substantive conversations within the transcript window (from March 16).
July – September 2026
In progress90 substantive conversations so far this quarter, with full transcript coverage through September 15, 2026. Figures will grow as the quarter continues.
Research
An abstract benchmarking SickleCellPedia against general-purpose LLMs on clinical questions was accepted at the EHA (European Hematology Association) 2026 congress — full citation on our Publications page once confirmed.

Methodology
What counts as a conversation
A conversation is a session where someone asked something and the assistant answered. Sessions where the greeting appeared but nobody wrote back are not counted, and neither are sessions that ended in an error.
What we exclude
We exclude our own testing and anything that isn't a real person using the service.
Countries
Countries are inferred from where people connect from, and on WhatsApp from the country code of the phone number; we never store phone numbers. Location isn't always available, so this is a floor, not a total.
Languages
Languages are detected automatically from the first message in each conversation, so treat them as indicative. 11 conversations opened in a language other than English or French.
Coverage
Conversation-level detail is available for recent months only; earlier periods are reported from summary counts, which is why 2025 is shown differently. Figures last updated September 15, 2026.
